National Library Worker’s Day 2023

National Library Worker's Day is a special day that is observed annually in April. This day is dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the hard work and dedication of library workers across the country.

Library workers play a critical role in our communities, providing access to books, resources, and information to people of all ages and backgrounds. They work tirelessly to organize and maintain collections, assist patrons with research and inquiries, and provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone who enters their doors. View their reaction on our FURL Facebook page!

FURL loves to celebrate our fantastic team we are lucky to have at Urbana Regional Library. We surprised some staff on duty today with new water bottles, fun stickers to customize their own, and child-made book marks from local library-loving kids! We so appreciate our librarians and library workers for their contributions to our community.

So, how can you celebrate National Library Worker's Day? There are many ways to show your appreciation for these hardworking individuals. You can start by visiting your local library and thanking the staff for their service. You can also share your appreciation on social media using the hashtag #FCPL (or tagging @fredcolibrary on Instagram). Another thoughtful option is to write a letter - or send an email - to your library's director expressing your gratitude for the hard work of the library staff.

Even better, FCPL is currently asking for sponsors/donations towards the fantastic grand prizes coming up this year for the Summer Reading Challenge. It’s a great direct way to help, and it is easy to sponsor/donate.

National Library Worker's Day is an important occasion to recognize the contributions of library workers and the essential role they play in our communities. By taking the time to express our appreciation, we can help to ensure that library workers feel valued and supported in their important work…this day and every day.
